THRIVE Space Webinar
eMsingi THRIVE Space Webinar
In April 2026, the psychosocial pillar of eMsingi hosted a three‑part webinar series under the theme “Who am I, and How Can I Leverage That?” The sessions, held on the 13th, 15th, and 17th, were facilitated by pillar lead Nancy Karanja, together with Iris Karuri and LucyAnne Waweru. Over the three days, adolescents were guided through a journey of self‑discovery that explored personality and temperament, different ways of learning, and the intentional student success roadmap through SWOT analysis and accountability. The first session introduced participants to the distinction between personality and temperament, unpacking the four main temperaments: Choleric, Sanguine, Phlegmatic, and Melancholic, alongside their combinations, strengths, and weaknesses, and how to leverage the strengths while minimizing the weaknesses. The teenagers reflected on how these traits influence their academic performance and broader life choices. The second session focused on learning styles, offering a deep dive into the VARK model: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetics. This helped students recognize their preferred learning styles and how to harness them for success. The final session empowered participants with practical tools for self‑assessment through SWOT analysis, enabling them to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats, and to apply these insights to academics, relationships, personal growth, and future aspirations. With an average of 15 participants per session, the program blended interactive presentations, breakout exercises, and reflection tasks. The outcome was greater self-awareness, practical strategies for approaching academics with confidence, and clear personal roadmaps for growth. Feedback from participants highlighted the value of connecting self‑understanding with academic focus and broader life planning. The psychosocial pillar team is proud of the impact THRIVE Space has had and looks forward to building more spaces where young people can thrive in learning and life.
